Upload your ART Tube MP vocal

I have some, but information technology's kinda crusty screaming and I deliberately used the preamp to overdrive the song. For mic I used a sm58-copy from Behringer - for this vocalizer it sounded a lot ameliorate than a standard Shure sm58. I really liked the result.
Let me know if think you lot could utilize it.
I was given art tube mp from a friend.
I can't utilize the gain stage in it,I turn it all the way downwards.so run the point from my isa i threw it,or utilize it as a insert on my mixing console.
When I employ it thus style information technology actually sound pretty good.
When I use the gain knob, the out come is dull and muffled.I never tried to eq it to brighten information technology upward.
I but tested the mp,I never use it,I just use my tube mic when I need tube.
It proficient for the price.

I was cleaning firm, pulling out some items that had been sitting unused on the shelf, and doing a little experimentation tonight and thought I would post something on this long dead thread...lol
Regarding the Tube MP: IMO the gain staging on the Art can be a petty finicky and counter-intuitive and needs some fine-tuning of settings to get the optimal output. Without being very careful I discover it like shooting fish in a barrel to go into noise / hiss territory with this preamp. It does, yet take a lot of 'graphic symbol' if pushed.
So here is a curt acappella examination song to prove that with proper settings yous can become a (somewhat) decently clean signal out of this petty box.
Chain: AT4040 -> ART Tube MP -> Echo Audiofire 2 -> Reason
Of note, I am aware of the fact there is a good for you (i.e. overdone) amount of processing going on...... it is purposeful considering otherwise I really cannot tummy the sound of my own vocalization dry.

Tube MP'due south were the kickoff and only external preamps that I had any experience with for a long time. I bought the Dual MP (rack unit of measurement) and the smaller Tube MP well over x years ago. They've gotten tons of use, and they however piece of work and sound just like they did when they were new. And then, in my experience, they are solid, reliable units, and although I'm every bit bad equally the next gearslut about drooling over all the high terminate gear, the lowly Tube MP's honestly still audio pretty good to me.
I recorded this original tune back around '01 on a Korg D12 digital recorder, using a Dual MP for vocals and guitar. The song mic was a KSM32.

Ok...here is a 20 second clip of my cover of Level 42'southward 'Something About Yous'.
Vocal chain same equally above:
AT 4040 -> ART Tube MP -> Echo Audiofire ii
Recorded and mixed in Reason. Overall there are 11 tracks of vocals. x are the background harmonies and one lead.
EDIT: I am also including the same clip with just the vocals and no music, so you can hear the stacked Art. FWIW...there is no vocal tuning going on hither so forgive any bum notes. I tend to sing the parts again until I can get it equally close to useable as possible.

Alibi me gannonsamuel. Are y'all really running a ribbon mic through the Tube MP? Brave.
here is my contribution. Audix CX112 > Tube MP into a Saffire Pro 24 > Propellerhead Reason half dozen.5 > Mac mini. No furnishings, no compression, no EQ, no nothing. Oh yep, parental discretion is advised.

I would never even have thought to attempt to use information technology with a ribbon mic. I assumed at that place would exist way besides much dissonance. Looks like I'm wrong. Not the start time nor the last time.

Hmm, It tin can become a bit noisy i guess, though i've plant the output of the sE to be pretty beefy anyways in full general, maybe i've lucked out on a peculiarly quiet MP and a especially loud sE?
